Good news for RVers traveling north from the Boise Idaho area – & especially for those traveling to Swiftwater RV Park in White Bird Idaho! Even though we can’t tell you when ITD (Idaho Department of Transportation) will open up Highway 95, the detour around the massive rock slide is manageable & easy.
Anna, from whom we recently purchased this beautiful riverside Idaho campground, made the trip north & south this past weekend. She and Duane were pulling a trailer and remarked that the detour “really wasn’t bad“. In fact, she said there was not even a 15 min wait each way, plus, there were “lots of travel trailers in both directions.” She took this picture from across the hwy on the detour route on the old Pollock Road.
Another juicy tidbit from our conversation with her is that the alleged ‘4 miles of gravel road’ is incorrect. What’s correct is the distance (4 miles) but the road is paved other than a stretch of gravel about equal to a small city block. The travel is slow, but it works really well.
Worried? Curious? Inquisitive? Give us a call to the office 208.839.2700 or send a text to 208.860.1966. We’re glad to help and share what we know. In other words, Travel On!
Of course, be aware, be safe, but avoid getting freaked out! Dream about the calming sound of the majestic Salmon River flowing by your campsite. Imagine yourself and family sitting outside under our riverside Willow trees, far away from the maddening crowd. Bring your ATV and ride direct from this Idaho campground. Enjoy a whitewater rafting trip or the thrill of a jet boat tour on the Snake River in Hells Canyon. You CAN get here, and we want to meet you!
Psst…..are you a history buff…especially interested in Idaho? Check out this interesting article in the Idaho Press newspaper as it chronicles about a 100 years of the Salmon River Canyon.
We hope to see you soon!
