Over 60 unique donated items to the 2016 Silent Auction & Vintage Trailer Social on Friday, May 6th at Swiftwater RV Park LLC raised $1,300 in funds to support training and recruitment for the City of White Bird’s volunteer EMT and Firefighting personnel.
A group of 30- 40 vintage trailer guests frequently return to our campground, which is located just 17 miles from the Hells Canyon Recreation Area.
These guests appreciate White Bird, Idaho – a small town, 2 miles away – and find solace in knowing emergency personnel are nearby.
We decided to support their appreciation by creating this first ever Silent Auction and Vintage Trailer Social.
Visitors and guests arrived from the Salmon River Canyon, Grangeville, the LC Valley, northern & southern Idaho including the Treasure Valley, eastern Washington and even as far away as Portland and Seattle!
Touring vintage trailers was a big draw and everyone enjoyed seeing the creativity and artistic talent of these Idaho glamping campers.
Beautiful weather, a gorgeous setting, outstanding donated items, and a steady flow of people ensured the success of the event.
Swiftwater’s vintage trailer guests are extremely grateful to everyone who’s contributions helped raise funds for the emergency personnel.
We know small communities need a continual flow of new and trained volunteers – both EMTs and Firefighters. Training costs can be a burden for volunteers, as well as recruitment can put a strain on the City’s budget. All funds raised at the event were given to the City of White Bird as a budget line item to be used specifically for recruitment and ongoing training of both emergency responders and firefighters.
The Silent Auction was held at the beginning of the 5th Annual Vintage Trailer Spring Rendezvous Rally held at Swiftwater RV Park just outside of White Bird, Idaho.
