One of my favorite sayings is ” A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work”. There’s nothing like camping on the Salmon River in north central Idaho and having the Salmon season open…which recently occurred on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
We’re all being optimistic about the fish run this year. Here’s what the Idaho Fish & Game (IDFG) officials wrote:
“Fish counts from Bonneville Dam suggest that the 2013 return of Chinook salmon to Idaho may be significantly lower than forecast but large enough to support fisheries. Projected returns for the Clearwater River are farther below forecast levels than returns to the Salmon and Snake rivers, officials said.”
The point to focus on is the last sentence, which means come on down to White Bird and fish our part of the Salmon River! If you stay at pet-friendly Swiftwater RV Park for the 2013 Salmon Season, I’ll give you a 10% discount if you mention reading this blog. Then you get to enjoy our great amenities like super hot showers, free wifi and a fabulous view. Plus you’re just a stones throw away from great fishing!
The optimism gets better!
The IDFG officials go on to say: “Salmon returns to the Salmon and Snake rivers do not appear to be as far below forecast levels as those to the Clearwater, according to a Fish and Game news release. Fisheries in the Lower Salmon, Little Salmon and Snake rivers are similar to fisheries in recent years.”
So, are you ready to give my Idaho campground a try and toss your line in the Salmon River? You just can’t beat our outdoor recreation, and nothing says ‘outdoor rec’ like fishing for salmon.
The Idaho weather forecast in the Salmon River Canyon and White Bird is going to be FABULOUS! How does in the mid-’70’s sound? Yeah baby…fishing weather!
No matter what kind of a rig you have – large, vintage, cute, plain, travel trailer, pop-up – you’re welcome here at Swiftwater RV Park, where we offer the best camping value on the Salmon River.
