Fantastic 2014 Salmon fish count projections by the Idaho Dept of Fish & Game (IDFG) have inspired the wariest of anglers to visit the Salmon River, almost in anticipation of seeing the sleek Salmon swim by right in front of them!
Do you know that there are over 37,000 more Adult Chinook Salmon count over Lower Granite Dam this year then at the same time last year, as evidenced by the IDFG chart. Amazing, isn’t it! It definitely is ‘Ready, Set Go’ for Salmon Fishing this year – almost.
While the river has been flowing fast and turned a muddy color a few weeks back, good things are around the corner!
I was happy today to see this U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) chart forecasting the river flow slow down to 44 cfs in just one week’s time.
We’re definitely getting set and ready for an excellent season as the conditions are converging to produce a phenomenal Chinook Salmon fishing season here at the onset of June in the White Bird, Idaho area of the Salmon River.
Warm weather, lower river & slower flows and a fantastic fish count can mean only one thing….get, ready, set….’go fishing!
